All ICDRS mediators are nationally accredited under AMDRAS (Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution Accreditation Standards) — so you can be assured your mediation will be:
- Confidential –what is said in mediation can be used in court or other forums and all participants sign a confidentiality agreement
- Respectful – we have a zero tolerance for abusive behaviour
- Voluntary – no one will be forced into an agreement
- Impartial – our mediators are independent of both the clubs and members
- Focused on positive outcomes – our goal is to support you to resolve disputes and conflict
What to Expect When you Contact Us
- Discussion with Club Management – to determine if Mediation is an appropriate process or support for other strategies. If mediation is recommended.
- Confidential Pre‑Mediation sessions — pre-mediation with each person involved in the mediation ensures that they are fully informed about the mediation process, the mediators have checked for suitability and safety issues and is able to help them to prepare for a collaborative mediation session.
- The Joint Mediation Session — joint session provides the opportunity for the people in dispute to share their perspectives, to be heard and to hear the other perspectives. The mediator is not a judge or decision maker. Their role is to keep the process safe and respectful and facilitate mutual understanding. In the majority of cases, a path to resolution is developed by the people involved.
- Resolution & Next Steps — the mediation process is confidential however the participants may agree to agreements reached being shared or if there are systemic issues contributing to the conflict for a report on that to be prepared. There is no pressure to agree and the participants remain in control over what is shared.
